Mother

feat. Jasmin Mišić

A modern metal single about loss, memory, and the part of grief that does not close, heavy, intimate, and unfiltered.

The Origin

Mother did not arrive quickly. It came from loss, memory, and a long emotional process, the kind of weight that does not translate into music until the time is finally right. Some songs need years to find their shape. This one waited.

The decision to release it was not separate from the decision to write it. Both took time. Both required a kind of clarity that does not come on demand. When it finally became clear that the song was ready, the recording process moved without hesitation.

The Subject

The song is about grief, but not grief as a single event. It is about the long shape of mourning: the part that does not end when a person does, the love that keeps moving after the loss, the unresolved weight that does not get lighter just because time has passed.

It is not a tribute song in the traditional sense. It does not summarize a person or perform a goodbye. It speaks from inside the experience rather than from a safe distance outside it. That is why it had to be heavy. A polished, soft version of this song would have been a lie.

The Sound

Modern metal built around emotional weight. Crushing rhythm sections, melodic vocal lines that fracture into screams, atmospheric guitar work that gives the track room to breathe between the heaviest moments. The dynamic range is intentional, the quiet parts are not filler; they are where the song actually says what it has to say. The heavy parts are how it says it without lying.

Every vocal line, lead, layered, scream and clean, is performed by Vjekoslav Berec. The writing, lyrics, and overall direction of the track are his. The recording stays wide, dynamic, and intentionally raw, never polished into something safe. The mix favors clarity and emotional impact over uniform loudness. Every element is present for a reason; nothing decorates the song from the outside.

The Collaboration

Jasmin Mišić wrote the song, the music, the riffs, the harmonic shape of the track. He played guitar on the record and produced it: tracking, mix, master, the whole sonic build. The two of them worked in the same room while the vocals were being tracked, the song settling into its final form during that process. Vjekoslav Berec handles everything else: lyrics, every vocal line, lead, layered, scream and clean, and the emotional direction of the track. The collaboration was chosen, not booked: a writer-producer whose ear and instincts fit exactly what this song needed, working alongside the voice the song was always going to be sung by.

Closing

If the song reaches you, it reached you for a reason. Mother is not written to be enjoyed in the casual sense, it is written to be recognized. The audience that hears itself inside this song is the audience it was made for.
